Hello!
If you have come to this point, it is because you are curious about this Jacobean adventure that began a few centuries ago and has transformed the lives of so many people throughout history. Like everything, before this experience, you can take several options: that it is one more thing you have done during the summer, a cultural and sporting adventure that has served you to know the wonderful Galician lands... or you can also accept the challenge that the Camino de Santiago is that... and much more. This is the proposal we make to you: that you become a 100% pilgrim. That the Jacobean experience is something ‘marking’ in your life. And for that, to help you, we are here. ¡Vamos de camino!

Our proposal is...

to walk the WAY OF SANTIAGO... in the Augustinian style...

...and that brings with it:

INTERIORITY

to walk the Camino de Santiago discovering the One who dwells in the deepest part of you: God.

COMMUNITY

to walk the Camino de Santiago enjoying a community experience with others who are seeking the same as you..

MISSION

to walk the Camino de Santiago with the purpose of passing on the experience with joy.

Moreover...

2025 is the Jubilee year, and the motto is

PILGRIMS OF HOPE

What better motto for this Jacobean pilgrimage experience?

And how is all this going to work

The proposal of the Camino de Santiago 2025 is especially directed to the Augustinian Recollect educational communities (students, teachers, families, administrative and service personnel, former students) and other persons linked to the Augustinian Recollect Family who want to live this experience with us.

In 2025, moreover, we celebrate the Jubilee Year under the motto ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, which has also been assumed as the motto by the Order of Augustinian Recollects for this academic year, so that the Jacobean experience will take on even more meaning.

For this pilgrimage we have chosen the ‘’Camino francés‘’ for all those who are going to have their first experience as pilgrims to Santiago. Undoubtedly, this route is the most recommended to soak up the Jacobean spirit, learn about its ancient history and experience, firsthand, what millions of people have experienced over the centuries. It is also the route with the best infrastructures and offers the best guarantee of services.

Some practical information:

  • The meeting point for all the participants to start the pilgrimage will be the Colegio Agustiniano of Madrid, on Sunday, August 3rd at 9:00 am. We will also return to the same point on Sunday, August 10, arriving in Madrid around 20:00 hours.

  • The Colegio Agustiniano of Madrid will be available for those who need accommodation on the night of the 2nd and 3rd of August, and the night of the 10th and 11th of August.

  • Those who wish to arrive in Triacastela by their own means should be at the indicated place at 19:00 hours on Sunday, August 3. In the pre-registration process, please indicate your travel plan.

  • The journey from Madrid to Triacastela, where we will start the pilgrimage, will be made by bus. During the journey we will make two stops, one in Benavente to celebrate the Eucharist of sending out the pilgrims and the other for lunch and rest for the drivers.

  • The route we have chosen is the last stretch of the French Way, from Triacastela (around 140 km to Santiago) which we will cover in 6 stages at an average of 23 km per day.

  • During the whole pilgrimage there will be a group of people (organisation) who will be in charge of facilitating all the details for the group: assistance vehicles, contact with institutions, catering, etc.

  • The daily accommodation will be in private hostels that we have previously booked. In general, private hostels offer beds in common rooms with bathroom. As we are a large group, the room configuration will change in each hostel. The distribution of accommodation in hostels will be communicated when the registration process is finalised, trying to take into account the different needs based on the profile of the pilgrims.

  • Each pilgrim will be responsible for all their belongings, which must be carried personally. However, we will be accompanied by assistance vehicles that will be available to pilgrims in times of difficulty.

  • During the pilgrimage, food will be served by the Ruta Jacobea catering: at the beginning of the day breakfast and lunch (sandwiches for midday) will be distributed, which will make it easier for each pilgrim to eat at the time they consider appropriate. And in the evening we will have a hot two-course dinner at the place where we spend the night.

  • Health care is guaranteed throughout this French route. However, we will carry a complete and well-stocked first aid kit.

  • All pilgrims will also have accident insurance.

  • Each pilgrim will have a ‘Jacobean Survival Manual’ where they will have all the information about each stage, historical, cultural and tourist notes about the places they pass through, contact information, reflections and prayers to do at the beginning of the stage, during the stage and at the end of the stage, etc.

  • Once the day's stage is over, and having rested properly, we will spend the afternoons visiting the places we pass through, we will meet in groups to share the experience and reflect on the proposed themes, we will pray and celebrate the faith together.

  • On Saturday 9th August we will arrive in Santiago in the morning and we will stay in the hostel of the Minor Seminary, located a few minutes walk from the city centre. That way, we will have the opportunity to enjoy our stay in Santiago more.

  • On Saturday afternoon, at 17:30, we plan to meet at the Monastery of San Paio, in front of the Cathedral, to celebrate the end of the pilgrimage. The rest of the afternoon will be free, until 00:30, closing time of the hostel doors.

  • On Sunday 10 August, once we have attended the pilgrim's mass, and after lunch, we will return to Madrid. Those who return home by their own means will be able to do so from that moment onwards.

  • The pilgrimage is open to people of all ages. But if you are a minor, you must be accompanied by a responsible person, either a family member or a person in charge of the institution of origin. During the pre-registration process we will review all cases in order to offer the best solution (families, pilgrims from outside Spain, etc.).
