MELIOR Certification: the opportunity to achieve excellence

On Wednesday, September 25, the first webinar on the MELIOR certification of excellence was held, the improvement process inspired by the Augustinian experience of knowing oneself, accepting oneself and improving oneself.

Josefa Guzmán, advisor to the EDUCAR Network and coordinator of the MELIOR team, was in charge of presenting the certification, as well as the guidelines to apply it in the Augustinian Recollect educational centers.

This certification is a process of continuous improvement, where self-assessment, analysis and improvement are carried out in relation to the experience of our charisma, which is reflected in the members who make up our centers," commented Josefa Guzmán.

The certification process begins with the signing of a commitment to continuous improvement that is sent to the Certification Commission of the EDUCAR Network. After signing, the educational center begins its self-evaluation process, resulting in the Educational Center Report. This report contains the self-assessment report, responses and indicators defined by the EDUCAR Network and the commitment to improvement. This first stage lasts 8 to 12 months.

The second stage frames the evaluation of external peers (EPE), which validates the Educational Center Report. They analyze the commitment to improvement and verify compliance with the guidelines given by the Order of Augustinian Recollects for educational centers. The evaluators can finally present a report with recommendations to correct the memory, or if positive, generate a report with the acceptance of recommendations that lead to certification.

The last stage is the delivery of the MELIOR Certification of Excellence to educational centers that demonstrate an effective living of Augustinian values, successful management of the Augustinian Recollect charisma and a continuous willingness to improve. This certification will be granted by the EDUCAR network and seeks a commitment to sustained improvement over time.

By 2025, the certifying commission hopes to continue supporting the self-evaluation processes of more educational centers, as well as prepare version 2.0 of the MEGCAR Evaluation Model with new formats and instruments.

It is important to highlight that the Order of Augustinian Recollects recognizes education as a great platform for evangelization, which allows us to bring Christ supported by our charisma. As a result, and in line with the mission of our educational network, the certification process responds to the concerns of how to experience the charisma in our educational centers and what we do for it.

This webinar is the first in a series of Augustinian pedagogical training webinars that our EDUCAR Network will organize to increasingly train managers, teachers and educational staff of our Augustinian Recollect family around the world.
