Augustinian schools enthusiastically begin the 2024-2025 academic year: Pilgrims of hope

Our educational centers in America open their doors to a new beginning of the school year under the motto "Pilgrims of Hope", framed in the jubilee year celebrated by the Church. Join us to discover how they are preparing and how they give life to our Augustinian Recollect values.



BRAZIL - Santo Agostinho School – Nuevo Leblon, Rio de Janeiro:
Lívia Del Porto, academic coordinator, tells us that school and pastoral activities will begin in February. The teams prepare with a lot of planning, effort and enthusiasm to start and live the Holy Year, where we will share challenges, achievements, experiences and learnings.

"It fills us with joy to welcome new families and integrate former students to build more stories of friendship, collaboration and success for all, following in the footsteps of Saint Augustine and looking at the City of God" comments Lívia. This year, framed by the motto of our Augustinian Recollect Order and in line with the Catholic Church, the educational center will walk as true “Pilgrims of Hope” inspiring mind and heart through education.



PERU - Santa Rita de Casia School, Lima:
Jessica Alva, director of the school, also shares that they are preparing with great enthusiasm for a new start of the school year. In February they will hold a spiritual retreat for OAR teachers and priests together with their sister school Agustiniano San Martín de Porres, with the aim of reflecting on the annual motto.

"This year, we want to touch the hearts of each of our students, families, alumni and collaborators, asking us to be friends, confidants, respectful of others and loyal. This period invites us to strengthen ties through the Augustinian values ​​of friendship and community, keeping dialogue and understanding open," he commented.

Jessica has also stressed that the mission and vision of the school, inspired by Augustinian pedagogy, guide all the activities of the year: "We want to be an educational community that inspires our students to build a more fraternal and supportive society, always with hope."

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of the Jubilee experience in daily education: “The Jubilee exhorts us to cross holy doors, doors to go out to meet others and to let others enter our lives; doors of freedom that are founded on our Christian hope with the commitment to carry out works of mercy in challenging times.”



ARGENTINA - Niño Jesús y San Ezequiel Moreno School, Santa Fe:
Eugenia Moor, director of the school, explained that to promote the Augustinian value of friendship “we will work to build authentic relationships based on trust, respect and solidarity. As Eugenia explained, the school has started the year by strengthening spaces for coexistence and dialogue, convinced that education should inspire students to be protagonists in the construction of a more just and supportive society.



COLOMBIA - Colegio Agustiniano Tagaste, Bogotá:
The rector of the school, Br. Uriel Patiño, shares with us that the educational center has started the course with different organization and welcome activities for the entire educational community. He shares with us that "the motto encourages us to live this year as an opportunity to restore our spiritual relationships and fully trust in God. We want our students to live each day as an experience of hope, building together an educational center that reflects Augustinian values." .

Br. Uriel has also highlighted the importance of the Jubilee as a year of grace and reconciliation: “We will live this year with a renewed attitude, allowing the grace of God to overflow in our hearts, so that by expanding the space of our spiritual tent it Let us make room for God” and added that “with our school backpack on our shoulders and with God in our hearts we will live a year of hope.”

The beginning of the course has also dedicated important moments to organization and detailed planning: “Prior to the start of the school year there is a two-week period of institutional planning, in which the teaching and administrative staff are welcomed, the activities are defined of the school schedule, collegiate bodies are installed and operational plans are drawn up,” explained the rector.



GUATEMALA - Colegio Agustiniano, Guatemala City:
The School, which celebrates its certification as 'Great Place to Study', has started the year with activities for students, parents and teaching staff. The rector of the school, Br. Ángel Jahir, shared that “we are a community called to walk together, inspired by gratitude, friendship and faith. This year brings us great challenges and opportunities, and we are ready to face them with enthusiasm and commitment.”

The school has also presented new initiatives such as strategic alliances, infrastructure projects and new educational services: “This year begins with great news, a clear vision of our present and future, and commitments that reinforce our essence as an educational community of excellence,” he states.
